The founder

A love letter to Sri Lanka,
built by hand.

Portrait of the founder

I was born in Germany, half Sri Lankan. I studied and worked there, first in the public sector, then in online sales. Sri Lanka was never a holiday destination for me: it was the other half of home, waiting.

So I moved. Not as a visitor: a local restaurant first, then a small guesthouse. After years of watching how people actually want to travel, I built Domi Casa, and Domi Safiya followed.

Every house since is built around one simple idea: you should feel considered from the moment you arrive, and never staged. Sri Lankan warmth comes first. The German in me stays in the background, in the things you shouldn't have to think about: a WhatsApp answered within the hour, a kitchen stocked with what you asked for, a house that simply works.

In Latin, Domi means at home. That is the whole brief.

The people

I write this page, but the guests tell it better: review after review, it's the team they thank by name.

Nishantha runs the houses and will be there when you check in. Fairuz looks after Domi Casa and its garden. Nadeeka looks after Domi Safiya and brings breakfast out to the pool. Damith drives the tuk-tuk, from the airport run to whichever surf spot you heard about. Give it three days and you'll be texting him yourself.

When you message us on WhatsApp, I answer myself, usually within the hour. It's five of us, two houses, and soon four. You won't get passed around. You'll get us.

How we build

We build homes,
then hand you the keys.

Domi isn't a developer. Every house here began as our own plan: homes people can stay in when they visit Sri Lanka, and feel at home in. We build them ourselves, from first sketch to last door.

Everything is made in Sri Lanka, by Sri Lankan hands. We work with the same local craftsmen and labourers, project after project, and we design alongside them, never over them: their knowledge of material, climate and craft is in every wall. Nothing gets handed to a big construction company and forgotten. We're on site ourselves, through every step, closing every single detail of every home. It's slow, it's personal, and honestly, it's the best part of the work.

The Domi Principle

"A stay should feel like a home you didn't know you had, until you walked in the door."

Where the story lives

The collection, one philosophy.

Casa on the coast for two, Safiya in the jungle for four, and Kurunduwatta opening in November 2026. Each built with the same attention. Each different in what it asks of you.
