The short version: we are a small team running two houses, we hold very little about you, we never sell it, and if you ask us to delete it, we will. The longer version is below.
Who we are
This policy is about Domi Collection, two private homes in Ahangama, Sri Lanka: Domi Casa and Domi Safiya. The team behind them is small and answers one number, WhatsApp, +94 77 057 7333, in English and German. That WhatsApp line is where you raise anything about your details. WhatsApp is fastest; email to stay@domicollection.com works as well, and lands with the same team.
What we hold about you
Almost nothing, by design. If you write to us on WhatsApp, we hold the name and number you write from and the messages you send us: arrival dates, flight numbers, requests, the things a host needs to look after a stay. If you subscribe to the letter, we hold your email address. The letter itself goes out through Resend, an email service in the United States, which therefore holds your address and notes whether a letter was opened, until you unsubscribe. Mail you send to stay@domicollection.com sits in our Google Workspace mailbox. If you book through Airbnb, the booking itself lives with Airbnb under their privacy policy; we receive from them what a host needs to prepare your stay, no more. We never ask for, and do not want, your card details, your passport scan outside what the law asks guesthouses to register, or anything else sensitive.
Why we hold it
To answer you, arrange what you asked for, and run the stays. That is the whole list. Your email is used to write about openings and news, nothing else. An email given to the list is never used for advertising, never sold, and never shared with anyone who might.
Who else sees it
Nobody, except in three cases. First, the partners who deliver what you asked for: your driver needs your pickup time and flight number, your surf instructor needs the date. They get only what the arrangement needs, and nothing else. Second, Airbnb and the other platforms you chose to book through, under their own policies. Third, the rare case where the law of Sri Lanka or of your home country requires us to share something with an authority. There is no data broker behind this website. If you accept measurement in the cookie banner, Google Analytics, and once it is switched on the Meta pixel, receive information about your visit, as the cookie page describes; if you decline, they receive nothing. And if you write to us from a business or a travel agency, we keep your name and email address in Attio, our contacts book, so we remember the conversation; it is used for working together and nothing else, and you can ask for it to be deleted whenever you like.
Where it lives
On the phones and accounts of the small team that runs the houses, protected by reasonable everyday security: locked phones, strong passwords, two-factor sign-in where it exists. WhatsApp conversations stay between you and the team, and emails on the letter list sit in a private Google Sheet that only the team can open. No system is perfect, and we will not pretend otherwise, but there is very little to lose precisely because we keep so little.
How long we keep it
WhatsApp threads stay as long as the conversation does; say the word and we delete them. Emails on the letter list stay until you unsubscribe, and every letter carries an unsubscribe link. Booking records are kept for the accounting and legal period Sri Lanka asks of a small business, then deleted.
Your rights
You can ask to see what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, get a copy of it, or object to us holding it at all. Write to us on WhatsApp or at stay@domicollection.com, say which of those you want, and we will answer within thirty days, usually much faster. If you are in the European Union, this is your right under the GDPR; if you are in Sri Lanka or a guest of a Sri Lankan business, it is your right under the Personal Data Protection Act No. 9 of 2022. Both laws, and plain politeness, say the same thing: your details are yours.
Children
Bookings are made by adults, and we do not knowingly collect the details of children. Families are welcome in the houses; their data stays with the parents who booked.
Other websites
This website links to Airbnb and Google Maps, and the letter list runs on Google’s services. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we cannot speak for them. Our links out are marked, so you always know when you are leaving us.
Cookies
Measurement cookies load only if you say yes in the banner, and you can change your answer at any time. Everything that happens when this site loads is written down plainly on the cookie page. The legal side of a stay is on the terms page.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the current version lives on this page with a new date above. We will not quietly repurpose anything you have given us.
