Booking and arriving+

How do I book?

Standard stays go through Airbnb for Casa or Airbnb for Safiya, where the calendar and instant confirmation live. For longer stays, back-to-back bookings across both villas, or anything special, message us directly on WhatsApp.

What about cancellations?

A booking through Airbnb follows Airbnb's cancellation policy, the one you chose at checkout. If you book with us directly instead, we take a deposit and agree the cancellation policy in writing before anything is confirmed. Direct bookings always start with a message on WhatsApp.

Do I need a visa for Sri Lanka?

Most likely, and most likely it's free. Since May 2026, passports from more than forty countries, Germany, the UK, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, India, the UAE and the USA among them, get a thirty-day tourist visa free of charge through Sri Lanka's ETA system. Apply online at eta.gov.lk before you fly; a week ahead is comfortable, and the visa can be extended once you're in the country.

When is the best time to come?

December to April is the main season on the south coast: dry, sunny, and the surf at its most consistent. May to November is the quieter side of the year: tropical showers mixed with long stretches of sun, greener gardens, and kinder prices. The houses are open year round.

What if my flight lands at night?

It happens all the time, and the team lives close to both houses. Send your flight number and landing time on WhatsApp before you fly, and someone will be there to meet you, whatever the hour.

Getting there and around+

Where exactly are the villas?

Both sit in Ahangama West, on Sri Lanka's south coast. Domi Casa is a five-minute walk to the surf; Domi Safiya is about 3.5 km inland, deeper jungle, quieter, greener, its own pool. Same team, same standards, two very different moods. See where it all sits on the map.

Can you arrange airport pickup?

Yes. Tell us your flight number on WhatsApp and a driver meets you at arrivals. About two and a half hours from Colombo airport by car. The ride has a fare, and you'll hear the price before you book it.

What about the train?

The coastal railway from Colombo Fort stops in Ahangama, a short tuk-tuk from either house. It costs almost nothing, and the sea keeps you company the whole way down. The train to Galle for a fort day is a favorite with our guests.

Do I need a scooter or a car?

For Casa, no, the beach, the breaks and the cafés are walkable. For Safiya, a scooter makes you fully self-sufficient, and we arrange rentals on request. One thing we can't do is the paperwork: to drive here legally you need a valid permit, an International Driving Permit from home plus the Sri Lankan recognition permit to go with it. Sort that before you fly, or lean on our tuk-tuk driver, who knows both houses, the surf spots and the shortcuts. Most guests don't rent anything the first day, then want a scooter by the second.

The houses+

Check-in, check-out, and early check-in?

Check-in from 3 PM (up to 8 PM), check-out by 10 AM. Early check-in or late check-out whenever the calendar allows, just ask. The team lives close and has never once said no when they could say yes.

Can we leave our bags before check-in or after check-out?

Yes. The team lives close by and is happy to hold them; tell us your times on WhatsApp and we'll sort it.

Is there air conditioning?

Yes, both houses have air conditioning.

Where can we park?

Domi Safiya has a driveway that fits one car. At Casa you rarely need one: the beach, the breaks and the cafés are a five-minute walk.

How often is the house cleaned?

Housekeeping is available daily in both villas, included in your stay. If you'd rather not be disturbed (total privacy, or just some mornings), say the word and we'll come only when you ask. Your call, any day.

Is breakfast available? Can we cook?

Both. The kitchens are genuinely for cooking, good knives, stocked spices, everything where you'd want it, and guests tell us it's a pleasure to use. If you'd rather not, we arrange breakfast and in-villa dining, and Manori's is a short walk from Casa. Fruit from the garden when it's in season.

Is the pool at Safiya private?

Entirely yours, open year-round, with sun loungers and pool toys. No shared hours, no neighbors. At Casa, the garden and hammock play that role, and the beach is five minutes away. See the villa here.

Are children welcome?

Yes, we're deliberately not adults-only. Casa suits couples or two friends, with a crib and baby chair on request. Safiya's two ensuite bedrooms, fenced pool and single-level layout suit a family of four, with a crib and high chair already in the house. Tell us the ages and we'll set it up, and babysitter recommendations are on the concierge list.

How fast is the wi-fi? Can I work from there?

Fast fibre in both villas, with a proper work desk in a room with a door. Guests regularly run full workdays on it. If the surf is pumping, we take no responsibility for missed meetings.

The area and things to do+

How far is the beach?

From Casa, 450 metres on foot to Marshmallow Beach. From Safiya, about ten quiet minutes by tuk-tuk down to the coast.

Is there good surf nearby?

Some of the most consistent surf in Sri Lanka breaks along this stretch of coast, with spots for every level a short ride in either direction. From Casa the breaks are a five-minute walk; from Safiya, our tuk-tuk driver knows exactly where to drop you for your level.

Can you arrange surf lessons and board hire?

Yes, we arrange lessons with local instructors and board hire on request, and you'll hear the price before you confirm. Casa also has surfboard storage if you bring your own.

What should we do while we're there?

Start with the experiences page: boats, the cinnamon walk, Galle Fort, the markets. Then ask the team; the tips that make a stay usually arrive as a WhatsApp message. The train to Galle is a favorite with our guests.

Anything else+

What else can the concierge arrange?

Scooters, drivers, surf lessons, boats, babysitting, a doctor, a pharmacist run, laundry, and the things you won't think to ask until you need them. See the full list →

Can we get laundry done?

Yes, we can arrange it through the team. Drop your clothes in the morning and they come back line-dried in the garden; message us on WhatsApp to set it up.

Is there an ATM nearby?

There are bank ATMs in Ahangama town. Cards are fine in restaurants and bigger shops; tuk-tuks and market stalls prefer cash.

What if we need a doctor or a pharmacy?

A doctor, a pharmacy and a dentist are all close by, and the concierge line will point you to the right one at any hour. That's part of the service.

A day here

A day at Domi.

07:30

Breakfast by the pool.

We usually start slow. Fruit, hoppers, strong tea, whatever's ripe from the garden. You'll find it laid out by the pool.

09:30

Yoga on the deck.

Our teacher comes over most mornings. Ninety minutes, then straight into the water if it's warm.

11:30

A massage, if you want one.

We can call our Ayurvedic therapist over. She knows the house, brings her own oil, sets up in the shade.

13:00

Lunch, home or from down the road.

Either we cook, or we order from a small kitchen we love nearby. Sri Lankan, or whatever you're in the mood for.

15:00

The long afternoon.

Nap, read, swim. Nobody's rushing anywhere. The palms move; nothing else really has to.

18:00

A cocktail on the terrace.

Something cold, watching the sun go.

19:30

Cooking together, if you're up for it.

Our cook is happy to walk you through a Sri Lankan curry: grinding the paste, folding a hopper. Then you eat it.
