The short version: this website measures visits only if you say yes. Until you answer, it sets no cookies at all, and if you say no, it stays that way. The slightly longer version is below.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file a website places in your browser so it remembers something between pages or visits: a login, a shopping basket, or a tag that measures where visitors come from. European law asks every website to tell you which of these it uses and to ask before setting the ones it does not strictly need. Here is ours.
What this website sets on its own
Nothing that tracks you. There is no login, no basket, and no chat widget. The one thing the site remembers is your answer to the cookie question, kept in your browser’s own storage so we do not ask again on every page.
What loads if you say yes
Two measurement tools, and only after you accept. Google Analytics counts visits and shows us which pages help people find the houses; it sets cookies named _ga that last up to two years. The Meta pixel is not switched on yet. When it is, it will tell us whether our Instagram and Facebook posts bring people here, so we can show the houses to people likely to want a stay; it sets cookies named _fbp and _fbc that last about three months. Both tools are run by their own companies, Google and Meta, under their own privacy policies, and both may process data outside the European Union. If you say no, neither loads and neither sets anything.
Changing your mind
You can change your answer at any time with the cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. Saying no after a yes removes our measurement cookies from this site. Every browser also lets you block or delete cookies, or open a private window, and the site works exactly the same either way: the photos load, the houses are the same, and the letter form still takes your email.
What others touch
Three honest footnotes. The typefaces you are reading load from Google Fonts, so Google sees the request your browser makes for them. When you join the letter, your email travels through a Google Apps Script into a private Google Sheet that only our team can open, and the letter itself is sent from stay@domicollection.com through Resend, an email service in the United States, where your address stays until you unsubscribe. And the links to Airbnb, Google Maps, and anywhere else lead to sites with cookies and policies of their own, which we do not control.
Changes
If we ever add another tool that needs cookies, this page will say so, in plain words, before it goes live. How we handle your details generally is on the privacy page, and the terms of a stay are on the terms page.
